Trustees’ message

 

Our dedication to do this work is driven by the difference we make to the lives of those affected and their families. We will continue to raise awareness of the condition and promote the work of NCC as it strives to accomplish its mission.

 

At our hearts is:

 

To strive for multidisciplinary team care that is crucial for every cleft patient.

 

To provide training for health visitors and midwives who work in rural areas.

 

To advance the knowledge and expertise of local cleft teams.

 

Promotion to support and assist to set up a local support group for parents.

 

To coordinate various centres in Ghana to work together.

Mary Obeng

 

A Policy Advisor and mother of a daughter with cleft lip and palate; with the help of fellow trustees and supporters, Mary is determined to make a difference in every possible practical way to parents and children with cleft and palate in Ghana.

Collins Amofah

 

A Pharmaceutical Scientist and a member of the General Pharmaceutical Council of Great Britain, Collins works for the Central North West London NHS Foundation Trust, with the Community Health Services Pharmacy Team and is based at the St Charles Centre For Health and Wellbeing, London, UK. As a former employee of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and Bikkai Pharmaceuticals Ltd, both in Kumasi, Ghana, Collins supports Nyarko Cleft Care and its efforts to raise awareness and improve the treatment of cleft and palate in Ghana.

Dr Josh Eyeson

Consultant in Oral Surgery , UCL Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust-Eastman Dental Hospital

 

He completed a higher specialist training programme in Academic Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Kings College and Guys & St Thomas’ Hospitals in 2009. He has been in post as an NHS Consultant in Oral Surgery since May 2010. He is the Lead Clinician for Oral Surgery and lead trainer for the NHS training programmes in the Department. He is interested in and practices the broad spectrum of Oral Surgery.

Dr John Somarib

 

Consultant Paediatrician in Neurodisability and RCPCH College tutor MBChB, FRCPCH.Current place of work: East Sussex Healthcare NHS trust and Sussex Community NHS trust

 

Dr Titiaan Dormaar

 

Dr Dormaar Cranio-Maxillofacial and Cleft surgeon currently working in the department of oral and maxillofacial surgery at UZ Leuven. He obtained his MD from Maastricht University, the Netherlands. He obtained his DDS from the Radboud University Nijmegen, the Netherlands. Before continuing his specialist training he spent 2 years in the UK, where he worked as a senior house officer in ENT and OMFS in Guildford and London. He completed his OMFS training at Utrecht University, the Netherlands. During his training in Utrecht he was involved in a research project on alveolar bone grafting with beta-TCP bone substitute in alveolar clefts. Following this he did a 3 year Fellowship in Cleft Surgery at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital, London.He has been on 2 missions with Nyarko Cleft Care to Tamale, Ghana.

Dr Dery Felix Tuopar

 

Dr Tuopar work within the Maxillofacial department at Northampton General Hospital.
