Supports and provides cleft lip and palate treatment in Ghana.
Nyarko Cleft Care (NCC) is a UK registered charitable organisation dedicated to make a difference to the quality of life for those affected by cleft lip and palate.
It was founded by a British born Ghanaian in 2005 to support cleft treatment in Africa. NCC’s mission is to help develop a comprehensive, self-sufficient, accessible and affordable cleft lip and palate treatment centre in Ghana to make a difference to the lives of people affected by the condition and to support them to have hope and live life to the full.
To achieve this, the NCC trustees’ objectives are:
•To promote community awareness of cleft condition and educate community about possible treatments that is available.
•To assist in the treatment and care of children and adults with cleft lip and palate and related conditions in Ghana.
•To aid training amongst medical and nursing staff providing cleft services in Ghana.
•To assist in the provision of equipment and facilities required for the treatment of cleft patients to build up expertise towards self-sufficiency.
•To educate the community against possible cultural misconception of cleft lip and palate condition and to assist patients and their families to reintegrate into community life.
•To support research into causes and treatments of cleft lip and palate.
•To raise funds for a purpose built cleft treatment centre.
